Ah yes… Fall is here in the Shuswap. And with the extra cold snap in the air and the vibrant hues, comes cozy coffee dates. Luckily for us living in the South Shuswap, we’ve got three local cafés that serve gourmet, homemade comfort food and piping hot speciality drinks! Now grab your scarves and a friend, and let’s check out one of these local gathering spots!
1. Sprokkets Café
Making our way east to west, Sprokkets is first up! Conveniently located at 3096 Trans-Canada Hwy in Sorrento, this café is a popular tourist and local destination – especially since it’s attached to the famous Dreamcycle Motorcycle Museum! After touring the impressive motorcycle display, warm up by the fireplace with one of Sprokket’s speciality coffees and signature sandwiches (complete with a homemade “sprocket” bun). If you’ve got a sweet tooth, then you have to try their homemade desserts like the Suzuki Cinnamon Bun, Sprokket Pie, or Triumph Cheese Cake. Owner Robin is sure to serve up your meal with a smile.

2. Spinnaker Café
As you travel into Blind Bay, you’ll hit another local favourite, Spinnaker Café, in the Blind Bay Marketplace Mall. Owners Susanne and Ruth have a made-from-scratch approach to food using only fresh and local ingredients.
After a day of exploring the bay, stop in and warm up with one of their daily specials. Their lengthy menu includes hearty breakfast and lunch dishes including special eggs bennies, omelettes, pancakes, sandwiches, burgers and more! If you need a little extra warming up, try one of their daily soup specials. We promise you won’t be disappointed! As for dessert, there is always something baking in the oven to satisfy your cravings. You can even take home one of their to-go dinners for a quick and easy solution to your weekday dinner woes.
